So what goes on behind the scenes at Cake Craft?! Here is your Backstage Pass to the 'making of' Cake Craft cakes...

When you get in contact with me, the first thing I'll ask is what date you would like to collect your cake, so I can check my availability. It's quality not quantity at Cake Craft, so I don't take on many cakes at the same time to allow me the time to focus on bringing each individual cake up to the same high standard.

After a wee chat about what you are looking for, I will go crazy in my sketchbook and Google my socks off researching every last little detail of your design. From this I will then work up a final cake design for you, along with a corresponding quote.

After the design stage, I’ll set to work creating your cake. Cakes of more than one tier can be a mix of flavours if required. All cakes are baked fresh and from scratch, by me, so you can be assured the quality of the inside matches up to that of the outside!

When creating all the decorations, I will constantly refer to photographs and images to ensure accurate modelling - so if your little 2 year old’s teddy has one eye missing and a bit of stuffing falling out the back, or Granny’s favourite baking bowl has a pretty pink floral pattern – it will be all depicted on the cake. I use a mix of 3D and 2D fondant modelling along with hand painting in edible paste colours. It’s the details which make each cake special and meaningful to the recipient.

Each cake is finished with an iced cake board and ribbon trim, and is then ready for you to collect!
